Level 4 · The full chromatic range & keys

the complete chromatic scale, playing in several keys, agility

Command of the slide across the full range lets one C chromatic play in any key — its great advantage over the diatonic harp.

What you learn

  • The full chromatic scale up and down using the slide (Ryan’s: ‘THE CHROMATIC SCALE … all the notes, natural, flat …’).
  • Playing in different keys on the one C instrument.
  • Faster passages and clean interval leaps.
  • Position playing and modal melodies.
  • Two-octave scales and arpeggios.

Grounded in: standard chromatic-harmonica practice — for the slide button and chromatic technique (most chromatic methods are still in copyright).

Note: a method-grounded technique curriculum (no score corpus for this instrument); levels are graded skills, not pieces.
